Light a candle to show your support
Tipperary Rape Crisis Campaign ‘Light a Candle for Sixteen’ is about lighting a candle to show your support. There are sixteen Rape Crisis Centres in Ireland providing vital services to surviors of rape, sexual trauma and violence. Lighting a candle in the window of a house years ago was a symbol of safety and refuge. That is what Tippeary Rape Crisis Centre is, we acknowledge it takes courage to phone or to call into the Centre for the first time but we offer a place of safety and refuge.
We want people to light a candle in a place that they feel safe or after they have conquered a major achievment by cimbing a mountain or doing a walk, run or cycle or maybe with a friend that helped you through difficult times. By taking this picture and posting it on social media you are showing the world that nobody should feel alone and that we are all ready to support each other when we need to.
The campaign is supporting the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world.
So light a candle and show your support and use the hashtags so we can show the world we are all ready to support anyone in need. #trcc #lightforsixteen #orangetheworld
